An excellent guide to training. Just recently got a new Shih Tzu puppy ( female type , name is Leia), having had to put down my Shih Tzu Obie-Wan, he was 13 years old and was in very poor health.I had forgotten the trials and tribulations of all that comes with a new pup. A great help.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is well written and has alot of usefull information to help train your puppy. From potty training to the basic commands every well trained puppy must learn. Even explains how to teach a few tricks. I have a 7 month old boxer puppy and have used these methods to train him he has learned sit, down, shake, am now working on heal. Has alot of great tips!
I bought this book when we thought we were going to adopt a puppy. Unfortunately we were unable to do so. It was interesting and when we do get a dog I will refer back to this book.
I bought this book on my , and I wasn't able to stop reading it. From page one the author explanes the thinking proccess of your dog and every page seems to expand on that. I learned many things about Canine body language that I had seen on my own but, never really understood. I recommend this book to anyone who isn't really sure about purchasing it, BUY IT! This is the book you are looking for!
Much the same information available in other hooks, but the price is hard to beat. The advice and recommendations are well thought out and valid. This is a good dog training reference.
I purchased this book after getting a new Golden Retriever puppy. I referred to it many times while I was teaching him the basics of being a well trained puppy.
A well written little book with many xlent ideas. It is really up to the owner to follow thru and make it work.
I found it a little hard to get results, but could be just me. Certainly worth reading.
I got a Black Labrador Retriever puppy for Christmas and he established himself as the Alpha Dog on the second day. He is teething and a feisty little fellow constantly biting and nipping at me and my children. I know this behavior can be corrected with proper training and discipline but after reading three books and trying the recommendations we had no success.
I came across this book and it is EXCELLENT!! I tried the establishing your role a as leader section and it has worked like a charm. My puppy is making great progress and no longer nips at me or the children. I am now in control and the puppy respects me. The layout of the book has good flow but most importantly the content is unlike anything out there. The content really works if you execute it as the book suggests. This is the best book bargain and best information for training puppies that I have come across. The Commands section is very thorough and also helps shape good dog behavior. Don't waste your money on any other books like I did. This is the only book you need! MANY THANKS to the author for sharing her dog training tips with us and writing this magnificent book!!!
